Sabzi
When Sabzi was a child, he watched his mother design and weave Persian rugs. He has said that his basis of form, color, patterns and texture flow from the same source of energy and creativity that inspired his mother. Sabzi's subjects are almost always women, beautiful, graceful, madonnas that reflect solitude. His western influences come from Matisse and Cezanne modernism. Sabzi, however, goes beyond Matisse and creates post-modern images. His treatment of the human face as luminous geometric planes, sheer luminous spaces contrasting sharply with the somber moods of his figures, create a unique style that is world famous.
